The Challenge

The ERP system in use—a customized and outdated version of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012—was starting to limit the company’s ability to grow, integrate, and scale. The challenge was to migrate to the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations in the cloud, while maintaining the integrity of existing data, optimizing processes, and fully leveraging the new features and capabilities of the platform.

With over 400 full-time employees and a network of 16,000 language experts across 14 countries, the company needed to modernise its financial and operational processes to remain competitive on a global scale.

The Journey

To tackle this ambitious project, Axazure structured it as a complete ERP reimplementation, combining automatic data migration with the reconstruction of customizations (gaps) and the addition of new functionalities. The strategy was based on the Microsoft Dynamics Sure Step methodology, applied through the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool, Life Cycle Services (LCS), covering five phases: analysis, design, development, implementation, and operation.

One of the critical components of the process was the AX2012 data migration, which included:

Recreation of the data dictionary: rebuilding all EDTs, base enums, maps, and custom tables from AX 2012, as well as all modifications to standard tables, to prepare the data model for migration.
Data migration: executing the automated migration process through LCS, ensuring data integrity, quality, and traceability.

In addition to replicating existing functionalities, Axazure worked closely with the LanguageWire team to optimize key processes and take full advantage of the platform’s new capabilities, and improved user experience.
